Thank you for all the amazing love stories....
It was hard to choose a favorite, but this one just seemed so romantic....so many things had to line up for this love to happen...
Meet M and S....
In 1989 I was divorced again. Having always loved to dance and looking for something to to do, I started going with a group of friends to a place in Ocala, Florida called Stillwaters. It was a brand new country western restaurant/bar and was "the" place to go. We danced 5 or 6 six nights a week, line dancing etc. We were all good dancers and we mostly danced among ourselves. All of a sudden a new face was at the rail, looking down at the dance floor. He showed up quite a bit but never danced. Being a hairdresser, the thing I noticed most about him was his bad haircut. It parted down the middle and flipped up on the sides. Before long he was trying to talk to me as we would pass. "Nice boots." ...I would keep walking like I hadn't heard him. "I like the way you dance" ....I would blow right past him. "That was a really cool dance you guys did" ....he got a stare. I never replied but he kept on trying.
Around that time the man I was dating and I went to a big party. The entertainment of the night was a psychic. When he was finished with his program for the group, he said that anyone that wanted their palm read should line up across the room. Most of the women lined up for a reading. When he got to me, he actually told me a couple of things that nobody would have "known" so I was kind of intrigued. After he got through with everyone, he said if anyone wanted a more in-depth reading, he would be at the Tea Room there in Ocala. I got one of my girlfriends, Chris, to go for a reading with me. When it was my turn, he said a lot of general things but then said, "You are in a relationship with a man (I was) that will end shortly. Keep having fun as long as it lasts but know that he isn't the one for you." Then he said, "but you will not grow old alone. You will meet a man that is not from here. You will marry him and move away. His name is MIKE." Then he said, "I can't quite get the last name but it will start with a letter with a tail. And he will be your soul mate."
I thought YEAH RIGHT! I am not interested in getting married for a third time. I certainly will never leave Florida again, I already moved to New York the last time I was married. I didn't believe he could give me a first name of this man and I REALLY didn't believe the last name stuff, starts with an R or a Q...(letters with tails). And soul mate????
A week or so later, I was meeting some friends for yogurt at TCBY. I had a few minutes so I walked to newspaper box outside of Publix. I put my money in the box, bent down to open it and take my paper. As I stood back up, the Publix doors opened and out walked the man from Stillwaters. I looked right at him and said, "Hi. What's your name?" He said, "Mike."
I asked him if he'd like to go have yogurt with my friends and I and he said, "Boy would I ever!".
I married him a year later and moved to Alabama. We will be married 20 years next month and he IS my soul mate.
All this happened during my "wild days" and before I was saved...guess who led me to Christ????
