With it being bridal show season, I have gotten a lot of feedback from other wedding vendors. From what I can tell, it's gonna be a busy wedding season!
Unfortunately, many brides are trying to save money by becoming DIY brides. DIY (do it yourself) brides are not all bad. There are some seriously creative gals out there that add uniqueness and personality to their wedding day. However, the success of a DIY bride is dependent upon her knowing what to do herself, and what to leave to the professionals.
For instance, one of my favorite florists, Mandy Majerik of Hothouse Design Studio, shared the story of a bride trying to do her floral by herself. Without going into details, I will say that the poor gal was using spray paint and ended up with blue fingers. Hopefully, thats enough to convince you that you MUST hire professionals for certain parts of your wedding.
So brides, while your friends may call you Martha Stewart, it is best to leave the professional to do their work. Use your mad creative skills to design funky favors, special decor and your invitations. Be creative with your color scheme, your hair, your attire...but NEVER....EVER...cut corners on the big things like photography, floral or catering.
