Well it's been a busy few weeks. I know, I know, I keep making excuses for not blogging but the truth is, even when I have the time, I'm not sure what to blog about that will be interesting to anyone. Then I had lunch with a friend.
Over the course of our 2 hour lunch, we discussed many things but one thing stood out...insecurity. We talked about how all women deal with insecurity and how it's changing the way our children are viewing themselves. We talked about how not being confident in yourself, results in your children not being confident in themselves, and how could they, we are not equipped to to teach them this. . As women, I realize that we are fighting an uphill battle with insecurity. Even the most beautiful, most successful, friendliest, most outgoing, trendiest of people deal with insecurity.
So, this friend of mine (who by the way is one of those people you would BET had no insecurity whatsoever, and certainly has no reason to be) confessed to feeling insecure at times and I gotta be honest.... I found it a bit freeing.
Having rounded the corner of 30, I am less worried about looking confident when I'm not. I instead try to focus on accepting my insecurities and trying to work on those specific things rather than pretending they don't exist.
I mean, who hasn't been insecure? Who hasn't wished (OR PRETENDED) to be confident in a situation they were truly very uncomfortable with? Bad haircut? Meeting the boyfriend's family? BATHING SUIT SEASON?????
Well, I am inspired after this lunch. Insecurity is stupid. God made us all just how he wants us and I'm determined to think I'm JUST AS AWESOME as He thinks I am! So...stay with me as I try to overcome silly things that shake my confidence and mask who I really am.
Here's to the friends that accept us for who we are, listen to what we say, love how loud we laugh, but most of all, encourage us to believe that we are ENOUGH, just being ourselves.
I wonder how you got so good. This is really a fascinating blog, lots of stuff that I can get into. One thing I just want to say is that your Blog is so perfect!
